Intern.  Yes, I am an intern.  Here to learn, here to observe, here to work and here to document my month-long winter internship.  All in all, this will be a December to remember.

Today was my first day on the job, which in intern lingo means you A. panic, B. Try on 5 different outfits and still do one of two extremes: 1. Look underdressed or 2. Look ridiculously overdressed.  You lose either way.

Setting my alarm clock for an early 6:30 a.m., I still was late, thanks to unusually bad traffic and an overturned tractor-trailer. Yet, after trudging through the treacherous Tri-State blizzard-like weather (flurries, actually), I received a warm welcome at the firm: coffee, a computer and a blue lollipop on my desk, reading “The Eisen Agency: Investor & Public Relations.”

The blue sucker was dressed in a KISS-like black and blue “Cult of the Blue Tongue” handbill (more like a thumb bill — is there such a thing?); the back read: “Join or get licked.”

Example.  Fashioned after their Blogspot header below:

Marketing tool, or sweet snack — either way, my tongue turned blue, which in Eisen lingo is a sign I need their service. Today, the fast-paced, always-changing world of a PR firm is what I witnessed in-office…and what I liked.

So, updating Twitter, blogs, Facebook and LinkedIn: social media is the name of the game, and I’m going to spend the next month figuring how to use it in a way that “dares to be extraordinary.”
